Baggage, fares and the small-airplane details worth knowing — so you arrive at the airstrip relaxed, packed right and ready for the window seat.
Every SANSA fare includes a personal item and a generous checked allowance. Because our aircraft are small, weight is measured carefully — here's exactly what's included.
One small personal item that fits on your lap or under the seat — a daypack, camera bag or handbag. Cabin space is limited, so keep it soft-sided and slim.
Thirty pounds of checked baggage comes with every ticket — plenty for a week on the coast. Soft duffels and backpacks fit our cargo hold far better than hard shells.
Over 30 lb? Extra weight is charged per pound at check-in and carried subject to available space and aircraft balance. On busy flights it may travel on the next departure.
The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan is a small, twelve-seat aircraft, so total weight and how it's distributed genuinely affect how it flies. That's why baggage limits are firm and why, at check-in, an agent may politely ask for each passenger's weight to balance the cabin. It's a standard, safety-driven part of light aviation — quick, discreet, and the reason your flight is smooth.
Traveling with more than a suitcase? Most things can come along — just arrange them ahead of time so we can plan the load.
Surfboards, golf clubs, dive gear and bikes are welcome on request and space-permitting. Book them in advance — long or oversized items need dedicated cargo room and may travel on a separate flight when the cabin is full. A gear fee applies.
Small dogs and cats may fly in an approved soft carrier that fits on your lap, on selected routes and with advance approval. Their weight counts toward your allowance. Service animals travel free — please tell us when you book so we can prepare the cabin.
Wheelchairs, folding mobility aids and essential medical equipment travel free of charge — they don't count against your baggage allowance. Carry prescription medication and any refrigerated supplies in your personal item, and let us know of special needs 48 hours ahead.
Every fare includes your carry-on and 30 lb checked. The difference is flexibility — how freely you can change your mind. Prices below are one-way, per person, illustrative.
Fares are illustrative sample data and vary by route, date and demand. See the full range when you search a flight.
Small airstrips move fast and close early. Give yourself a buffer, bring the right ID, and you'll be through in minutes with time for a café before the propeller turns.
In the tropics, skies change fast. We may move a departure earlier or later for safety — keep your phone on and check flight status the morning you fly.
Sometimes, yes. On a twelve-seat Cessna 208B, our crew balances the cabin by seat, so an agent may discreetly ask each passenger's weight before assigning seats. It's routine in light aviation and directly tied to a safe, smooth flight — your answer stays private.
Extra weight is charged per pound at check-in and carried when space and aircraft balance allow. On full flights, overweight or oversized items may travel on the next available departure and be delivered to your destination — so pack essentials in your personal item just in case.
Yes — sports gear is welcome on request and space-permitting, for a gear fee. Reserve it when you book so we can plan the load. Long boards and other oversized items occasionally travel on a separate flight when the cabin is full.
It depends on your fare. Light is non-refundable with no changes. Standard includes one free date change plus a fare difference if any. Flex offers unlimited changes and a full refund before departure. You can compare all three in the Fare types section above.
A valid passport, or a Costa Rican cédula if you're a resident. The name on your booking must match your ID exactly. Minors need a photo ID and must travel with a guardian or written authorization. Connecting to an international flight? Allow at least a three-hour buffer.
Tropical weather can shift a departure earlier or later for safety, and we'll contact you if it does — so keep your phone reachable and check flight status the morning you fly. If a flight can't operate, we rebook you on the next available departure at no charge.
Thirteen destinations, thirty pounds free and a view no highway can match. Search a flight and go.
